The German Physical Society announces the “DPG Young Scientist Award for Accelerator Physics”, which is planned to be awarded at the DPG Spring Conference in Mainz 2022.


The Young Investigators Award for Accelerator Physics aims to promote the work of young researchers and to honour outstanding scientifi c contributions made in the fi eld of accelerator physics at an early stage of research, primarily at a German university or research institution. The prize, which is awarded annually, is aimed at scientists whose doctorate was awarded no more than fi ve years ago at the time of the submission deadline and who have distinguished themselves through original and independent research contributions. The prize is endowed with 5,000 euros and is awarded by the Arbeitskreis Beschleunigerphysik (AKBP) together with external sponsors. The award ceremony takes place in a separate meeting of the AKBP and includes the laudation as well as a lecture by the prizewinner.

In addition to the sponsors and the members of the Accelerator Physics Committee and the Award Committee, every German university and basic research institution as well as the heads of all departments / institutes at German universities are eligible for nomination.
Members of the award committee cannot be nominated as award winners. Nominated candidates for the award should have made a substantial contribution to their research performance at a German university.

Selection procedure:
The jury appointed by the Working Group on Accelerator Physics identifi es one prizewinner among the nominees.
