Arbeitsgemeinschaft Magnetismus (AGM)
The Working Group on Magnetism (AGM) is a joint committee of the following organizations:
- German Physical Society (DPG)
Condensed Matter Section (SKM)
Division of Magnetism (MA) - German Materials Society (DGM)
- Association for Electrical, Electronic & Information Technologies (VDE)
Energy Technology Society (ETG within VDE) - Association of German Iron and Steel Engineers (VDEh)
The AGM members' list can be found here.
The AGM does not have its own legal status. One of the participating organizations serves as the legal sponsor of the AGM and is responsible for its administration. Currently, this role is fulfilled by the DPG.
Objectives:
The Working Group on Magnetism is an advisory body associated with the Division of Magnetism. Together with the Division of Magnetism, it promotes both the scientific foundations and the technological applications of magnetism in Germany.
To support continuing education and the exchange of information and experience, the AGM organizes scientific meetings, lectures, and discussion conferences. Furthermore, it promotes international—and particularly European—scientific and technological cooperation in the field of magnetism.
News:
- The next DPG Spring Meeting of the Condensed Matter Section will take place in Regensburg from 14 to 19 March 2027. The next AGM General Assembly will be held during this meeting.
- The submission deadline for the INNOMAG Dissertation and Master's Thesis Award will be announced in due course.
- Latest news from the European Magnetism Association (EMA).
- Both the DPG and the EMA offer a range of attractive prizes and awards, particularly for early-career researchers. See: DPG -- Fachverband Magnetismus, Sektion Kondensierte Materie, DPG allgemein; EMA -- The Young Scientist Award, Dominique Givord Award.
