Beschreibung

Better late then never: This years talk on astrophysics organized by the Munich Regional Group

Dr. Esra Bulbul, scientist at MPE in Garching, will talk about the search for dark matter and the instrument eROSITA. There will also be a discussion afterwards.

Additional information

Dr. Esra Bulbul is the lead scientist for eROSITA cosmology and cluster science and head of the galaxy clusters group at the Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics. She received her Ph.D. in physics from the NASA Marshall Space Flight Center in 2010. She has held a staff scientist position at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics (CfA) and postdoctoral fellowships at CfA, MIT, and NASA Goddard Space Flight Center prior to her arrival at MPE.

eROSITA is the primary instrument on-board the Russian-German "Spectrum-Roentgen-Gamma" (SRG) mission which was successfully launched from Baikonur on July 13, 2019 and placed in a halo orbit around the L2 point. eROSITA will perform the first imaging all-sky survey in the medium energy X-ray range up to 10 keV with an unprecedented spectral and angular resolution.
