Summer semester 2025

🚶‍♂️Walk 'n' Talk – Conversations on the Move

Around the Physics Colloquium, the jDPG regularly has a short time slot with the invited speaker.
After the talk (or sometimes before), we go for a relaxed Walk 'n' Talk across campus.

This is a great opportunity to ask follow-up questions, dive deeper into topics, or just have a casual chat.

Whether it's about physics, career paths, or personal impressions –
Walk 'n' Talk gives you the chance to get to know the person behind the lecture beyond the stage and screen.

📍 Meeting point: Foyer of building E2.6

Learn how to professionally typeset scientific texts, equations, and plots – perfect for lab reports, term papers, theses, and academic publications.

03/07/2025 - CAD & 3D Printing

Design your own components on the computer and learn how to use 3D printers – from the first idea to a finished physical model. Great for anyone who wants to combine physics, technology, and creativity.

🏅Physics Abitur Prizewinners' Meetup

On Friday, July 11, 2025, the jDPG Regional Group Saarbrücken, together with the Department of Physics at Saarland University, invites you to this year’s Physics Award Winners' Meeting.

All students who received a special award for outstanding achievement in physics in the 2025 Abitur are warmly invited.

🧭What to expect

The meeting begins at 1:30 PM on the campus of Saarland University.
We’ll meet in front of building C6.3 (commonly known as the “Physics Tower”).

Our compact afternoon program includes:

  • the chance to exchange ideas with students, the student council, and the jDPG
  • a personal welcome and congratulations from professors
  • exciting insights into current research projects
  • an interactive tour of physics laboratories
  • and of course: hands-on physics!

To round off the day, we invite you to a small reception – a great opportunity for informal conversation and networking.

🎯Purpose of the event

The Award Winners’ Meeting aims to give young physics enthusiasts the chance to get a first taste of university life, make personal connections, and discover the many paths available after the Abitur in STEM fields.

📌Notes

Prior registration is not required but helps us with planning.

🎉 Fachschaft Summer Party – We’ll be there!

At this year’s Fachschaft Summer Party on Friday, July 11, 2025 starting at 12:00 PM in front of the physics CIP pool, the jDPG Regional Group will contribute something fun as well.

We’re planning a guessing game – and a large canvas for a collaborative artwork.

The idea:
We want to express what studying physics feels like – somewhere between lecture enthusiasm and exam frustration, coffee breaks and caffeine crashes.

Stop by, join in – and bring your creativity! 🎨
