CPP Instruction for Proposals

How to prepare proposals for the invitation of speakers and the organization of special sessions

Here few hints about the various categories:

  • Plenary speakers and evening lecturers should be internationally accepted and should address a general physics audience.
  • Invited speakers give a talk in one of the CPP sessions (25+5 min). We welcome presentations which give an overview on a certain research topic.
  • Interdivisional symposia (“fachverbandsübergreifende Symposien”) should clearly address interdivisional aspects and are organized together with two other divisions, e.g. BP, DY, and HL. They consist of a few invited talks (25+5 min), a number of contributed talks (12+3 min) and posters.
  • Focus sessions are typically themed on CPP specific topics, but can also address topics of interest for one or two other divisions, e.g. BP, DY, or HL. They consist of a few invited talks (25+5 min) and contributed talks (12+3 min) and posters. We welcome especially suggestions from junior fellows.
  • PhD focus sessions are organized by PhD students in collaboration with the working group Young DPG (Die junge DPG - Netzwerk der Physikbegeisterung — DPG) These focus sessions should address CPP related topics. A nice description is found here (PhD Fokus-Sitzung (Symposium) — DPG)
  • Tutorials address current scientific topics and are especially directed towards students and young scientists. They take place at the beginning of the meeting on Sunday afternoon. Suggestions from CPP members are very welcome.

Please submit your suggestions for plenary speakers, evening lecturers and interdivisional symposia by June 1, 2025. Proposals for focus sessions, invited talks and PhD focus sessions should be submitted by June 30, 2025. Please send your suggestions via e-mail to the Speaker of CPP. At this, please use one of the following templates: this one (Word file) for speaker suggestions and this one (Word file) for sessions.
