Excursion to the Thuringian State Observatory in Tautenburg | jDPG RG Leipzig

The Thuringian State Observatory in Tautenburg (TLS) is a center for basic research in astrophysics, with a focus on extrasolar planets, solar physics, and the history of the universe. On our excursion to the TLS, you will gain insight into the research conducted at the institute and take a guided tour to see the technical equipment used there.

For people from Leipzig, we offer travelling together by public transport, which is free for holders of a (semester) Deutschland ticket (see below). If you choose a different route, please be at the entrance to the TLS in Tautenburg at 10:30 a.m. sharp. To help us with our planning, we kindly ask you to register via email to .

Information about joint arrival/departure:

  • Meeting point: 8 a.m. at Leipzig Central Station (platform 7, section A)
  • Guided tour: 10:30 a.m.–1 p.m.
  • Lunch break: 1:30–2 p.m.
  • End: 3:15 p.m. at Leipzig Central Station

We will provide snacks during the trip. However, for a full meal you will need to bring your own lunch. Alternatively, you can stop at a snack bar during the lunch break.
