Description

We will host a summer school on "Interatomic Coulombic Decay" from September 1st to September 5th, 2014 at the Physikzentrum Bad Honnef, Germany.

The aim of the school is to provide young researchers with a general overview of the field of interatomic decay processes. A deteailed introduction to the theoretical and experimental techniques used to investigate ICD will be given in a series of mini-courses presented by some of the most prominent researchers actively participating in the study of ICD phenomena.

Built around the more technical courses are a series of invited lectures on such topics as the radiative biology, cold atoms collisions, or physics of the interfaces which should provide a broader perspective on the general importance of the ICD mechanism. Ample time for discussion and one-to-one interaction with the speakers will be provided.

Invited external speakers:
Kiyoshi Ueda (Tohoku University Sendai)
Musahid Ahmed (Lawrence Berkeley Lab)
André Knie (Universität Kassel)
Edvardas Narevicius (Weizman Institute)
Richard Saykally (UC Berkeley)
Bela Viskolcz (University of Szeged)
Melanie Mucke (Uppsala University)
Paola Bolognesi (CNR-ISM, Rome)

The summer school is primarily addressing young researchers in all stages of their career, from graduation to early PostDoc level. Since the number of participants is limited we kindly ask the applicants to sent us a short resume (single page) starting their educational and scientific background, and the motivation for participating in the summer school.
