Research Agenda: I study water-polymer interactions in cellulose-based nanocomposite films. In particular, I am focusing on how ionic strength and overall water content influence hydration layers, water diffusion, polymer mobility, and overall structure, and how this eventually affects macroscopic properties such as conductivity, mechanical stability, swelling behavior. Key techniques include neutron/x-ray scattering (QENS, (GI)SANS, (GI)SAXS), Raman and FTIR spectroscopy, and molecular dynamics simulation.

Short Bio: Currently I work as a postdoctoral researcher at the Forschungs-Neutronenquelle Heinz Maier-Leibnitz (FRM II), TUM. I studied Chemistry in Bayreuth,  Germany and Easton, USA, and went on to earn my Ph.D. in Physics at the  Technical University of Munich in 2021. Afterwards, I worked as a postdoctoral  fellow at the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Cologne and as visiting  scientist at the Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL) and Université Grenoble Alpes in  Grenoble, France. I have a passion for science communication and work as a Science Consultant and Content Creator at Kurzgesagt GmbH since 2018, as well as hosting the monthly-appearing science podcast 'Your Friendly Physicist and other Nerds'.
