German Italian Physics Exchange (GIPE) 2026 | jDPG

The young German Physical Society invites to the next round of the German Italian Physics Exchange or better known as GIPE. This year we will explore the beautiful city of Hamburg.

Hosted by the jDPG regional group Hamburg, this event invites 40 students from Germany and Italy to explore scientific research centers, engage in talks with local experts, and present their own research. The participation is free of charge, covering accommodation, breakfast, event transportation and selected meals. Other expenses, such as most lunches, dinners and travel costs to Hamburg are not included. For people with a longer journey it is possible to arrive on Saturday and spend the night to sunday also in the youth hostel but please note this cannot be financed by the DPG and is therefore at your own expense.

Those interested can also present a poster of their own research or topic of interest. If you've already registered without opting for a poster but have changed your mind, please email us. We look forward to welcoming you to this enriching experience in Hamburg.

When allocating places, care is taken to ensure a balanced distribution between Germans and Italians. A short letter of motivation is also required and may be used to allocate places. Preference will be given to those who give a poszter. You will first receive an automatically generated e-mail, which does not yet mean that you have been accepted. Once the registration deadline has passed, an email will be sent to all those who have registered with the confirmation or cancellation and all the necessary information.
