Beschreibung

First Results from the Large Hadron Collider
The date of the WE-Heraeus-Seminar in December 2012 marks the end of the
first phase of LHC running. According to the current plans, this running
period will be followed by a shutdown of more than a year to prepare the
LHC for running at a centre of mass energy of 14 TeV. Thus, it is the
goal of the WE-Heraeus-Seminar to summarise the achievements of the
first years of LHC running, to put them into perspective within the
field of high-energy particle physics, and to discuss possible further
paths for the future. The WE-Heraeus-Seminar will bring world-renowned
experts of the relevant areas to Bad Honnef to discuss these topics in a
lively and inspiring atmosphere. The WE-Heraeus-Seminar will in
particular be an opportunity for younger scientists to closely interact
with leading German and international experts in the field.

The seminar is kindly funded by the Wilhelm and Else Heraeus Foundation.
