Nuclear resonance scattering (NRS) has become an indispensable tool for researchers from many different disciplines in the last decade. As it relies on the Mössbauer effect combined with the unique properties of new generation synchrotrons, the application area of NRS spans from hyperfine spectroscopy and magnetism in nanostructures to the vibrational characterisation of proteins. However, NRS is experiencing tremendous progress both from a methodological and from an application point of view. Accessing new Mössbauer isotopes using new monochromators, the observation of new effects such as the collective Lamb shift effect and the setup of advanced sample environments are just few examples highlighting the present activities in the field of NRS. In consideration of this progress experts as well as prospective users will be brought together in the 498. WE-Heraeus-Seminar, in order to catalyse the present developments and to define new perspectives. Furthermore, the workshop will be especially fruitful for younger colleagues starting research related to NRS.
