We would like to invite you to an engaging discussion about “Diversity in Academia” with Prof. Heather Gray on Tuesday, 12/05, from 14:00 to 15:00 the ITP in Appelstr. 2, seminar room 267 on the 2nd floor. This will be a good opportunity to hear about her experiences and to ask her any question.

Heather Gray is an associate professor for particle physics at UC Berkeley and the Lawrence Berkeley National Lab. She is also a member of the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. Her research focuses on machine learning and quantum computing in high-energy physics, especially to investigate the properties of the Higgs boson.

Physics has taken her around the world: She grew up and studied in South Africa, did her PhD in the US and worked at CERN in Geneva before becoming a research fellow and subsequently a professor at Berkeley.

On Monday, 11/05, and Tuesday, 12/05, she will be visiting our university. We would also like to invite you to her colloquium [1] of the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics on Tuesday at 16:30 in the castle in B302, with cookies served at 16:00.
