Beschreibung

The 608. WE-Heraeus-Seminar is taking place from 18th untill 20th of February, 2016 at the Physikzentrum Bad Honnef, Germany.

This seminar is generously funded by the Wilhelm and Else Heraeus Foundation and will be held from Thursday, 18 February 2016, 8:15 h, to Saturday, 20 February 2016, after lunch at Physikzentrum Bad Honnef near Bonn and Cologne in Germany. Arrival is planned for Wednesday afternoon/evening. Departure will be on Saturday afternoon or on Sunday morning after breakfast.
To bridge the gap between the development of superconducting materials and their use in practical power and magnet applications, there are still several practical questions that need to be answered. This is possible only through a synergy between physicists, materials scientists and engineers.
The scope of this Heraeus seminar is to bring together some of the world’s authorities in superconductivity to discuss present status and future direction of research of this fascinating field. A key feature of this event is that it will involve exchanges between physicists, material scientists, and engineers, so that the discussion will cover the most diversified aspects of and points of view on superconductivity. Not to be forgotten, among the invited speakers there will be also people from the industrial world, in order to strengthen the link between the investigation of basic properties of superconducting materials and the realization of practical devices that need to be competitive on the market.
Poster sessions where young researchers can present the results of their activity (in the framework of the seminar's title) are also planned.
The conference language will be English. The organizers invite young researchers to apply and to contribute to the poster session by using the application link on the left.
The application deadline is 15.12.2015. Please note that the number of participants is limited to 55.
The Wilhelm and Else Heraeus Foundation covers the full board accommodation at the Physikzentrum Bad Honnef (meals including water, except other beverages) for the invited speakers and for the participants from public institutions. Attendees from commercial organizations unfortunately cannot be supported by the non-profit Foundation. A daily fee of 72,- Euro (full board accommodation)will be charged.
