DPG Spring Meeting Regensburg, 31.03. - 05.04.2019
At the end of this conference we thank all invited speakers, session-chairs, lecturers and poster-authors for their contribution to a successful DPG spring meeting in Regensburg. Special thanks go to the local organizers, the colleagues of the DPG head office, the organizers of the focus sessions and the organizers of the interdisciplinary symposium.
We sincerely thank the members of the poster committee for their excellent job and we congratulate the winners!
DPG Spring Meeting Dresden, 15.03. - 20.03.2020
Due to the deteriorating situation regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19), the DPG Executive Board, after consulting with the organizers of the DPG Spring Meetings as well as with the local authorities, has decided – most reluctantly – to call off the DPG Spring Meetings this year (see: https://www.dpgphysik.de/veroeffentlichungen/aktuell/2020/dpg-fruehjahrstagungen-2020-abgesagt). This is also valid for the DPG Spring meeting of the Condensed Matter Section (SKM), scheduled to take place in Dresden from March, 15 – 20. This is very regrettable for all SKM members as we were looking very much forward to an inspiring meeting with stimulating scientific presentations and discussions and meeting our colleagues.
For CPP this year’s meeting was of special importance since we are celebrating the 100th anniversary of the groundbreaking publication of Hermann Staudinger on “Über Polymerisationen”, commonly seen as the birth of polymer science and we could attract outstanding speakers for this opportunity. Still, the health and well-being of the attendees, staff, vendors, and the population of Dresden is our highest priority and thus the risk of spreading of the corona virus (COVID-19) made this decision necessary.
The DPG will seek alternate ways to compensate for the loss of scientific communication. Together with the divisions BP and DY, we are organizing a virtual two-day-meeting on Tuesday, March 17 and Wednesday, March 18.
Further information on the program and access to the Live-Stream can be found here.
We intend to hold the Annual General Meeting of CPP online on Thursday, March 19, from 18:45 to 19:45 (as originally scheduled). Since we plan to elect our second deputy speaker on this occasion, we ask you to attend, as well as invite applications. The meeting will be streamed via the video-conference link and feedback can be given by raising your hand electronically.
We are very grateful to all organizers of the tutorial, symposium, and focus sessions for contributing to such an exciting program and thank all speakers for making time available for our meeting. At this point of time, unfortunately, it seems unlikely that the conference will be re-scheduled this or next year.
With best regards,
Marcus Müller, Andreas Fery, and Peter Müller-Buschbaum
