High-School Students Internship Programme (HSSIP)

The "High-School Students Internship Programme (HSSIP)" has been in existence at CERN for four years. Alternately, CERN gives all member countries the opportunity to select students for a two-week internship. This year it is Germany's turn and the DPG coordinates the selection process.

"I've always wanted to go to CERN and work with the scientists there", "Super, I find physics totally exciting! Great opportunity!"

You feel the same way or something similar? Then apply for an internship at CERN!

No less than 700 pupils applied for this programme. Selecting the 24 best students from among them was a difficult task for the selection committee, because the quality of the applications was excellent. Fortunately, it was possible to create a second round for a further 24 pupils. Special thanks are due here to the Wilhelm and Else Heraeus Foundation, which took over the financing of the second round.

From the first round from 5 to 18 May 2019, the students returned home full of enthusiasm. They worked independently on their own projects and got to know science and the scientists at CERN through lectures and excursions. For the second round from 10 to 23 November 2019, the pupils are informed.
