Deutsche Physikerinnentagung (German Conference of Women in Physics)

The Deutsche Physikerinnentagung (German Conference of Women in Physics) is an annual and well established institution since 1997. It considers itself to be a forum for women in physics. Committed and interested female scientists of all research areas, careers, occupational fields, regions and qualifications participate in this event to express and exchange their views.

The Deutsche Physikerinnentagung (German Conference of Women in Physics) is a forum for women in physics. Committed, interested female scientists from all disciplines, career levels and occupational fields, regions and qualifications present themselves here. Scientific discussion, the exchange of experiences and the presentation of professional perspectives of female physicists are its focus. All women who feel connected to physics are invited - whether as pupils or students, lecturers, researchers, teachers or economic physicists, as well as men who feel connected to the objectives of the conference.

Since the nineties, there have been regular meetings of female physicists in Germany, at which physics is presented and discussed on social topics. In Berlin in 1997, such a meeting was first declared the Deutsche Physikerinnentagung (DPT) by the female physicists present. An initiative was launched there to establish a representation of the interests of female physicists within the German Physical Society (DPG) and to support conference annually from then on. One year later, in 1998, the Deutsche Physikerinnentagung (DPT) was held in the Hanseatic City of Hamburg. At the end of the conference, the then president of the DPG, Alexander Bradshaw, confirmed the founding of the Working Group on Equal Opportunities (AKC) of the German Physical Society. From 2006 on, the DPT was held as a DPG conference.

Since 2019, a German Conference of Women in Physics independent of the DPG has been held.
