The fields of colloidal suspensions, complex plasmas, and ultra cold gases share a large fraction of general concepts. They have in common that the mutual interaction of individual particles is much stronger than their thermal energy, they are in a liquid or solid state and they allow to observe fundamental processes on a microscopic and therefore most fundamental level. However, different notations, notably different particle particle interactions, and sophisticated methods and techniques are an obstacle for young researchers to access and benefit from results obtained in the other fields. This sping school on the physics of strongly coupled systems aims at master students, phd students and postdocs from each of these research fields. We invite students and researchers to go with us across subfield boundaries and learn how these research fields are interconnected and explore how a shift of focus on similar physical processes can stimulate own future research. Introductory lectures in all three subfields with special emphasis on similarities and differences will found the basis to learn more about methods and techniques in all of the three fields. Taking into account that students usually only have access to introductory courses to one of these research fields at their home universities, this sping school is a unique opportunity to enlarge their research horizon.
To stimulate the exchange of ideas and methods across subfields, each participating student and lecturer will be asked to present a poster on a method (theoretical or experimental) he or she uses or plans to use including an example where this method has been or will be used. The focus of each poster presentation should be an introduction to a method and its purpose. With this bazar of methods, we would like to allow students to explore each subfields with an individual focus.
